Thomas F. Urban II came to the Washington, D.C. office of Kahrl Wutscher, LLP with substantial experience in civil litigation at national law firms. His practice has included a wide range of civil litigation including mortgage fraud recovery, complex commercial litigation, Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act cases, products liability, and matters involving computer crimes and the information technology.

Formerly an attorney with the law firms of Williams & Connolly and King & Spalding, Urban has engaged in high-stakes litigation across the country. Urban has substantial experience defending class actions, as well as in the prosecution of environmental toxic tort class actions. Moreover, Urban has defended pharmaceuticals cases, obtaining a significant verdict in a pro-plaintiff jurisdiction and the dismissal of another case on behalf of one pharmaceutical company, but has also filed several hundred cases against other pharmaceuticals companies who have injured clients with dangerous drugs. Urban has taken or defended over 250 depositions, many involving medical, environmental, and engineering experts testifying about complex technical issues.

Urban is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in aerospace engineering, and attended the United States Naval Academy. Urban is a magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, served as an Associate Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal, and was selected to the Order of the Coif. He clerked for Judge Carolyn D. King, formerly Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

He is the founder and President of Parents for Autistic Children's Education (PACE), a northern Virginia group that educates parents of children with autism and related disorders about various educational and medical interventions and their families' legal rights.

Urban is licensed to practice in Texas, the District of Columbia, Virginia, and West Virginia. Urban is a member of the U.S. Supreme Court bar, the bars of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the District of Columbia, Eastern District of Virginia, Southern District of West Virginia, Southern District of Texas, and Maryland, as well as the United States Court of Federal Claims.

He is also a member of the American Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice (formerly the American Trial Lawyers Association). Urban has co-authored several articles regarding computer crime and computer law, including an article in the National Law Journal discussing the protection of businesses on the information superhighway. In addition, Urban co-authored the computer crimes chapter of Business and Legal Guide to Online and Internet Law (Glasser LegalWorks 1997).
